2010 Tears and Ashes

The June 26, 2010 tour focused on homes that served as gathering places (depots) for people who opposed slavery, secession and war and fled the Confederacy by following pilots through the mountains to Union territory. Many of these were Brethren and Mennonites who opposed the war for reasons of conscience; others were army deserters who also opposed slavery and felt secession and war was the wrong way to deal with it.
